Sony has patented technology for auto-passing boring moments in games using AI

Sony received a patent for a system for automatically completing games based on artificial intelligence. It will allow gamers to skip uninteresting moments of the gameplay.

Auto-play mode will use an artificial intelligence model to learn to simulate a gamer's gameplay style, receiving information from cloud services such as the PlayStation Network (PSN). The patent describes several ideas for implementing the technology, such as simulating the gaming style of repetitive gameplay. In addition, the mode can be activated immediately before such scenes begin to appear in the game. During playthrough, gamers will also be able to receive notifications after completing certain game stages.

The option will be useful for players who complete long and complex titles. The patent states that the system can be used in games from third-party studios.

Previously, Sony filed for a patent describing technology for AI game streaming with reactions to user feedback. Using machine learning, artificial intelligence will imitate the actions of real players and analyze feedback data to change behavior. It will be able to use microphone and camera data processed using facial, speech and gesture recognition.

In addition, Sony has patented technology that will allow gamers to replay difficult parts of games from any point in time.
