The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant refused to cooperate with the Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus company, which announced plans to produce the first “electric cargo vehicle” based on the UAZ Profi under a government special investment contract (SPIC). This was reported by representatives of UAZ.

“As for the project of the Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus company, we want to emphasize that UAZ did not participate either in the development of the product or in prototype testing and cannot confirm the possibility of homologation of this commercial electric vehicle based on the requirements of the technical regulation. On this basis, the decision to supply the chassis for the project was not made, ”the Ulyanovsk company said.

In January 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported on the results of accepting applications for concluding a SPIC on the introduction of environmentally friendly urban vehicles. As part of the contract, manufacturers undertake to set up factories in Russia, in exchange they receive various benefits, large grants and subsidies. The St. Petersburg company Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus LLC was one of the two who applied.

It turned out that Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus was created only six months ago, and the authorized capital of the company is only 10 thousand rubles. The company said that the EVM Pro would be the first Russian “electric cargo vehicle” and would be created in close cooperation with the UAZ concern based on the Profi chassis. The prototype was planned to be shown in the first quarter of 2022.
