Among Russians who are on a diet, almost half report anxiety, panic and memory problems. This revealed a study conducted by Ornament Health AG, the developer of the application for transcribing and monitoring laboratory test results. Its results were submitted to .
Thus, 20% of survey participants who reported that they are on a diet forget something constantly or very often, and another 26% note memory problems periodically. Severe anxiety or panic is experienced by 46% of people who have set dietary restrictions for themselves. Another 42% of respondents complained about the inability to concentrate.
“As we can see, a diet, especially a blitz diet or too hard refusal of food, is not regarded as a gradual, consistent change in lifestyle forever, but remains an ambulance, a kind of medical intervention, which for the vast majority of people is stress, something negative and the expectation of a speedy cessation of this intervention,” commented Elina Sharifullina, chief research officer of the company, commenting on the results.
In general, 17% of respondents were on a diet at the time of the survey. At the same time, 66% of them said that they follow an individual nutrition plan.
Popular diets were chosen by 34% of respondents: 10% of them adhere to the paleo diet, 7% named the keto diet and 6% protein. Another 5% of people who restricted their diet said they preferred vegetarianism.
