European Commission spokesman Christian Wiegand said that a European covid certificate can be issued to people vaccinated with a Russian or Chinese vaccine and an EU-certified booster. It is reported by TASS.

“The certificate always shows the last dose taken. Thus, people vaccinated with Russian or Chinese vaccines and a booster dose of any of the vaccines recognized in the European Union can use the European covid certificate,” he said.

Wiegand added that the European Commission has decided to extend the covid certificate system in the EU for a year, until June 30, 2023.

Earlier, information appeared in the media that disagreements on the issue of mechanisms for checking digital documents have become a stumbling block between Russia and the European Union in the situation with the mutual recognition of covid certificates.

It was also reported that the WHO may recognize Sputnik V in the near future. Six vaccines are currently approved by the WHO: Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson&Johnson, Sinopharm and Sinovac.
