The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the Vesti program on the Russia 1 TV channel, told which people are most susceptible to infection with the Omicron coronavirus strain.
She stated that people between the ages of 20 and 30 are most likely to be infected with this variant of COVID-19 because they have a large number of contacts.
“Today, adolescents are actively involved, because there is also a very high degree of contacts, and so far - this is very good - low incidence rates in people over 60 years old,” the head of the department added.
Earlier, Popova said that there is no unambiguous answer to the question of whether a person who has had an omicron can become infected with a delta.
She also said that the quarantine for those in contact with the sick will be canceled due to the peculiarities of the “omicron”.
Prior to this, the infectious disease doctor, candidate of medical sciences Andrey Pozdnyakov said that the first symptoms of infection with the Omicron strain were nasal congestion and a runny nose. Also, about 80% of patients with "omicron" complain of a sore throat, he pointed out.
