Deutsche Welle office in Moscow received notice of closure

The Deutsche Welle office in Moscow confirmed that it had received a notification from the Russian authorities about the closure. It is reported by TASS.

The CEO of Deutsche Welle media company Peter Limburg said that the decision of the Russian authorities is “incomprehensible” and is an “overreaction”. He stressed that DW will not ignore what is happening in Russia.

On February 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced retaliatory measures to ban the broadcasting of the RT DE TV channel in Germany. In particular, we are talking about the closure of the correspondent office of the German television and radio company Deutsche Welle in Russia.

State Minister of Germany for Culture and Media Claudia Roth criticized Moscow's ban on Deutsche Welle broadcasting. She also noted that the situation around RT DE and DW cannot be compared.
