A criminal case has been opened, the police reported on February 3.

Both detainees were on the federal wanted list. They are suspected of organizing smuggling worth tens of millions of rubles in the supply of timber to foreign countries. According to law enforcement officials, merchants entered into foreign economic contracts with foreigners, and in order to legalize the export of timber, they provided customs officers with false information about its origin.

Thus, the smugglers transported more than 30 thousand cubic meters of timber worth 78 million rubles across the border of the Russian Federation.
