Norway lifts restrictions imposed due to COVID-19

From February 12, most of the restrictions imposed earlier due to the coronavirus are canceled in Norway, according to the website of the government of the country.

In particular, the obligation to maintain a safe distance, the requirement to wear a protective mask, the “isolation requirement” are cancelled. The authorities have also abolished the requirement to register entry into the country, while the requirement to pass a coronavirus test to enter the Svalbard archipelago remains.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the pandemic no longer poses a threat to the health of the majority of the population, since the country's population is protected through vaccination, and the Omicron strain "causes much less serious diseases." At the same time, it is emphasized that the number of hospitalizations may increase, but medical institutions are ready for this and the country is able to cope with the expected increase in the incidence.

In early February, the authorities lifted the telecommuting order, restrictions on the number of guests in homes and at social events, also reduced the period of self-isolation and canceled the mandatory test for coronavirus when entering the country.
