The Ministry of Economy recommended introducing incentives for electric vehicles in 19 regions

The Ministry of Economy recommended that regional authorities take measures in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation that should increase the attractiveness of owning an electric car, Kommersant reports.

In the regions, it is proposed to introduce ecological zones with a ban on the entry of cars of a low eco-class, free parking for electric vehicles with charging stations of a “slow” type (with a capacity of no more than 22 kW), as well as tax preferences for owners of electric cars (transfer tax benefits for owners of "green" cars are planned to be secured by the end of 2022).

The document developed by the Ministry of Economy was sent to 19 regions of Russia, including Moscow, Moscow, Sakhalin regions, Primorye, Tatarstan and Sevastopol.

“We have developed recommendations for a list of pilot regions where charging infrastructure for electric vehicles will be created by 2024. The document will further stimulate the growth of the electric vehicle fleet,” explained Ilya Torosov, Deputy Minister of the Ministry.

As of June 2021, 12.3 thousand passenger electric vehicles were registered in Russia, Avtostat reports. Most are located in three federal districts - the Far Eastern, Siberian and Central. They account for 74.4% of the country's total electric transport.
