The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Perm extended the arrest of Timur Bekmansurov, a student at the Perm State National Research University, who fired at the university. It is reported by TASS.
“To extend the period of detention for three months and seven days, that is, until May 22, 2022,” the judge said.
The meeting was held with the participation of the accused. He did not object to the extension of the arrest.
It is clarified that the detention of Bekmansurov was extended due to the need to conduct a number of examinations that determine the material damage to the university and citizens, as well as to interview a large number of witnesses.
On September 20, 2021, 18-year-old first-year student Timur Bekmansurov opened fire at the Perm State National Research University. As a result, six people were killed during the attack, more than 40 people were injured. The person who opened fire was charged with the murder of two or more persons, attempted murder, as well as an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer.
According to preliminary data, the young man decided to attack the university after he was convinced that it was possible to bring weapons into the territory. It follows from the protocol of interrogation that when buying weapons, the accused pursued two goals - to arrange mass murder, and then to commit suicide.
