The Pushkin Institute proposed a replacement for the term QR-code

Philologist Mikhail Osadchy said that the need to present a QR code when visiting public places causes negative emotions for some Russians. It is reported by radio Sputnik.

“The term “QR-code” is not clear to everyone, since it is an English abbreviation - Quick Response Code, that is, a quick response code. Everything incomprehensible increases irritation, ”says the philologist.

According to him, if we abandon this term, the meaning of which is unclear to most citizens, then the restrictions caused by the pandemic will be accepted more positively.

“I would recommend choosing a word that people will understand in terms of word formation. So that a person at least understands how it arose, ”added Osadchy.

In his opinion, a QR code can be called a “graphic code” and added that this concept is used at the Pushkin Institute.

Earlier, the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg arrested businessman and lawyer Alexander Konovalov, the so-called leader of the “QR resistance”. The man is suspected of mediating the transfer of a bribe to police officers. He will be in prison until March 27, 2022.
