The deaths of women in labor and children in the so-called coronavirus maternity hospital began to be trumpeted on social networks by men who buried their wives and babies. These stories attracted the attention of law enforcement officers and Roszdravnadzor. And when more questions began to arise around scary stories, doctors decided to express their position.

The main claim on the part of families still experiencing the tragedy was inattention. It was this word that sounded from the lips of widowers who are sure that their wives needed better help. Women wrote to them in messengers that they did not receive the necessary drugs, in response to questions, or they heard rudeness, or stumbled upon indifference from the staff. It is impossible to blame the Belgorod residents for exaggeration: ten women died in the maternity ward near Belgorod in just a few months. Eight babies were also not saved. "In what other region did this happen?" - the concerned Belgorod residents ask a rhetorical question.

Olesya Nesterenko, chief physician of the district hospital, recalled that the department for pregnant women who either have a suspected coronavirus or an already confirmed diagnosis was created a year and a half ago. And during this time, almost 900 women passed through the hands of doctors. Since the beginning of last autumn, when the “delta” strain of coronavirus raged in the region, the department entered peak load mode. More than 350 women came here in a difficult condition. Ten were not saved.

The Minister of Health of the Belgorod Region Andrey Ikonnikov noted that after each fatal case, checks were carried out in the institution. Moreover, not only departmental experts, investigators, but also employees of insurance companies carefully studied the situation with the death of women and children. He stressed that, unfortunately, it was not possible to save the women.

“In all cases, the clinical and pathoanatomical diagnoses coincide,” Alexey Vartyn, deputy chief physician for obstetric and gynecological care of the Belgorod Regional Clinical Hospital of St. Joasaph, confirmed the words. - Cases of maternal loss were recognized as unavoidable - due to the severity of the patient's condition, which was caused by a coronavirus infection.

Doctors also noted that pregnant women had chronic diseases. Diabetes mellitus, pressure problems and other health conditions have made the task of treating them impossible. Olesya Nesterenko also added that most of these women applied for medical help late, self-medicating with folk methods.
