Russia - In Yakutia, a foreign drug courier received 12 years in prison

Russia (bbabo.net), - In Yakutia, a court sentenced a foreign drug courier to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony. According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the man was accused of attempting to sell a large consignment of drugs as part of an organized group and using a fake passport of a Russian citizen.

The court found that in November 2018, the defendant applied for a job with a large salary in Novy Urengoy. During the correspondence with the recruiter, he learned that the work is related to the distribution of drugs. Subsequently, the man earned the trust of the leadership of an organized crime group and was promoted to an inter-regional wholesale courier. So that a foreign courier could move freely around the country, he was given two fake passports of a citizen of the Russian Federation and a driver's license.

In December 2020, the defendant took a large consignment of drugs from a cache in Moscow, transported it to Yakutsk and divided it into six parts for transfer to other members of an organized group. But he did not have time to finish the case, as he was detained by the police.

The court sentenced the man to 12 years in prison in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict did not enter into force. The criminal case against the other members of the organized group has been separated into a separate proceeding.
