The Union of Azerbaijanis of Russia commented on the conflict between immigrants from Azerbaijan, the gypsy diaspora and local residents in the Kemerovo region. Vice-President of the Union Elunur Huseynov said that he suspects outside interference in order to artificially inflate the conflict between the diasporas.

“We believe that some third party is interested here so that the Azerbaijanis and local Gypsies begin to conflict there. Azerbaijanis and Gypsies have never clashed in any regions of the Russian Federation. We believe that this is a specially well-prepared [provocation] by a certain side, which is still unknown to us. We will find out. At the everyday level, this conflict was inflated to such a level that some called others, others called third, and so everything got out of control, ”he said.

Huseynov added that the specialists of the Union are already at the stage of resolving the conflict and the parties plan to sit down at the negotiating table.

“Our specialists are working, representatives of the Union of Azerbaijanis of Russia in the Kemerovo region are closely dealing with this issue. Now the aksakals are already negotiating. I hope that today or tomorrow this issue will be resolved and there will be no more such conflicts. The conflicting parties will sit down at the table and we will clarify the situation thoroughly. And I think that they will reconcile so that there are no such repeated fights and interethnic events, ”he concluded.

Earlier, in the village of Tyazhinskiy in the Kemerovo region, there were several fights between representatives of the diasporas and local residents. The conflict began in the Elbrus cafe, where one of the residents got into a skirmish with the gypsies and an Azerbaijani intervened in the fight. The next day, the conflict continued and escalated into a brawl between the Gypsy and Azerbaijani diasporas.

The police opened a criminal case under Art. 213 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Hooliganism".
