In St. Petersburg and Novgorod Borovichi, police detained 56-year-old Anatoly B. and 53-year-old Igor V., who are suspected of contract killings committed in the 1990s, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reported.

“In the 90s, both were part of the liquidation team of one of the then existing criminal groups in St. Petersburg. Employees of the criminal investigation department established the involvement of the detainees in specific crimes, including their motives,” the department said.

On their account, as noted, four contract killings committed more than 20 years ago.

In particular, they are suspected of killing 23-year-old Inna P., who was discovered on May 19, 1999 in the Chernihiv region of Ukraine, and businessman Anatoly B., who was shot dead from a carbine on September 21, 2001.

“It was established that more than 20 years after those events, one of the suspects is working as a worker at a building materials plant in the city of Borovichi, the second is not officially working anywhere. Both detainees were transferred to the investigating authorities for procedural actions, ”the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.

The police are trying to detain other participants in these crimes, including customers.

Earlier in Dagestan, police detained a man suspected of a double murder in Kalmykia.
