Nutritionist Queen urged not to call chocolate an aphrodisiac

Research does not support the popular belief that chocolate is an aphrodisiac. This was stated by the endocrinologist, nutritionist of the network of clinics "Atlas" Polina Koroleva.

"You can't say it's an aphrodisiac," she said.

At the same time, Polina Koroleva admitted that cocoa fruits contain substances that, in combination, can have a “positive direct and indirect effect on sexual health and function.”

She included flavonoids, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiatherogenic, antithrombotic, antihypertensive and neuroprotective effects, as well as affecting insulin sensitivity and vascular endothelial function, to such substances. Methixanthin, biogenic amines and cannabinoid-like fatty acids can have a psychoactive effect, she says.

The nutritionist added that thanks to flavonoids, dark chocolate is good for brain function.

"Chocolate is good for cognitive performance - it improves concentration and memory," she said.

Previously, perfume experts have explained why "pheromone perfumes" cannot arouse sexual desire.
