In Yekaterinburg, “former cockroaches” were fed alive to surricates

The Yekaterinburg Zoo timed the public feeding of surricates to Valentine's Day by launching the "Ex-Eaters Day" campaign. The event was broadcast on Instagram.

Visitors could previously send the names of their former lovers and briefly talk about them in the application. The zoo staff assigned them to each of the Blaberus cockroaches selected for the action. The service cost 350 rubles.

After listing the "mortal sins" committed by the "former", the organizers handed over the cockroaches to the paws of specialists.

Also, in the Yekaterinburg Zoo, “named” insects were sent to be eaten by local fish as part of the action. Users were divided in opinion - someone is sure that the action is “cool”, while others ask not to shift responsibility to animals.

In 2019, meerkats feasted on the “former” at the El Paso Zoo in the US state of Texas.
