Russia (bbabo.net), - The Voronezh Regional Court delivered a verdict in the case of the murder of Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, 57-year-old professor of the Chemistry Department of Voronezh State University.

The scientist went missing in March 2020. Three months later, law enforcement officers were on the trail of his alleged killers. They found two men aged 35 and 31 with money stolen from the professor's account - one of the defendants used them to buy bitcoins in Magnitogorsk. At the same time, the body of the murdered man was also discovered - he was dismembered and stored in containers with acid. One of the accused turned out to be a longtime friend and student of the professor, who was engaged in scientific work under his leadership, the regional prosecutor's office noted.

At first, the men confessed to the murder, but then began to deny their guilt, claiming that they did not want the death of the professor, the regional Investigative Committee added.

The court found the Voronezh residents guilty of murder, robbery, illegal entry into a home, stealing a passport, and sentenced the 35-year-old to 21 years, and the 31-year-old to 19 years in prison in a strict regime colony.

The verdict can be appealed within ten days.
