Petukhov: Klebo did not leave anyone a chance at the finish line

Russian skier, bronze medalist of the 2010 Olympics Alexei Petukhov commented on the results of the men's team sprint at the Beijing Games. Alexander Bolshunov and Alexander Terentiev won bronze, while Terentiev fought the final winner of Norway's Johannes Klebo and Finn Yoni Mäki at the finish line.

“The guys are great fellows, they fought to the end. Three teams went to the lead, and the whole disassembly had to take place at the finish line. But Klebo saved money on the first climb and did not leave anyone a chance at the finish line. And Sasha Terentiev fought with a Finnish athlete, and in order to fight for silver, you had to go to the next track and try to enter the turn first. Because the finish line is not very long, and it was impossible to beat the Finn from the back, especially since he chose to move between the tracks, and Sasha - along the tracks. In any case, this is an achievement, for Alexander this is the second bronze medal, ”said Petukhov.

If Terentyev won both of his Olympic medals in Beijing, then for Bolshunov this bronze was already the eighth award of the Games. He won a bronze and three silver medals in Pyeongchang 2018, and previously won two gold and one silver in the Chinese capital.

Earlier, Petukhov said that Stupak and Nepryaeva made their maximum in the team sprint.
