Russia - Rakova: Published the results of additional research on the immunogenicity of Sputnik V

Russia (bbabo.net), - In Moscow, an additional study of the immunogenicity of the Sputnik V vaccine is underway a year after vaccination.

The first results showed the presence of a sufficiently high level of specific antibodies in all vaccinated volunteers. In 80% of volunteers whose tests have already been processed, the level of antibodies is above 200 BAU a year after vaccination. This was announced by the head of the Operational Headquarters for Control and Monitoring of the Situation with Coronavirus in Moscow, Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova. She said:

“Last December, we decided to extend the study of the Sputnik V vaccine in order to further evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the drug within 12 months after receiving the first dose. all vaccinated volunteers after vaccination at the time of the additional study. So, today there are results for 1,323 participants out of 3,000 - this is a sample of 44% of participants. Of these, 80% have an antibody level above 200 BAU, which is considered quite high" .

The study involved 3,000 people, from among the volunteers who received a vaccine, not a placebo, as part of the Sputnik V clinical trial. They should have received the first component a year ago (or a month earlier or later). Volunteers who were asked to take part in the additional study were randomly selected.

As part of the study, all volunteers were asked to donate blood once to assess immunogenicity - the ability to produce antibodies against the virus.

The recruitment of volunteers was carried out on the basis of 19 polyclinics, which are centers for conducting the Sputnik V clinical trial.
