“The commander of the Hydra frigate forbade approaching the ferry due to explosions,” the message says.

In total, there were 237 passengers and 51 crew members on board the ferry, all of them left the ship, there were no missing or injured.

The liner was heading from the Greek Igumenitsia to the Italian Brindisi. The incident occurred near the Greek island of Corfu. The cause of the fire is still unknown, all the circumstances of the incident are being established.

A representative of the embassy in Greece told RIA Novosti that there were no Russian citizens on the ferry.
