Warning siren turned on in Lugansk

A warning siren was turned on in Lugansk, RIA Novosti reports.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the LPR specified that from 12.00 to 16.00, a technical check of the centralized warning system with the launch of electric sirens will be carried out in the region.

The ministry urged citizens to remain calm and stop any manifestations of panic.

Earlier it was reported that in the LPR, two civilians were killed as a result of an attempt to break through the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The situation on the line of contact in eastern Ukraine escalated on the morning of February 17. The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) reported the most active shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine in recent months.

The armed conflict in eastern Ukraine began in 2014 after the residents of Donbass refused to recognize the new government after the coup d'état in the country. In 2015, the leaders of the Normandy Four countries agreed on measures to implement the Minsk agreements adopted on September 19, 2014. In the same year, Ukraine adopted a law on the special status of Donbass, but it never entered into force.
