Russia - Doctor Kryuchkov explained why you should not take immunomodulators

Russia (bbabo.net), - During the period of increasing incidence of COVID-19, people are trying to boost their immunity, including by taking various immunostimulating drugs. However, do not be mistaken about the omnipotence of such methods. This was told in an interview with Sputnik radio by an immunologist, candidate of medical sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov.

He noted that people are influenced by advertising, which focuses on the effectiveness of such drugs. In fact, there is no verified evidence that when taking immunomodulators, the risk of contracting a particular infection is reduced. Perhaps they will not harm the body, but the doctor is not sure that they will help. Therefore, spending a lot of money on them is simply not worth it, says Kryuchkov.

“There are drugs that can really affect the immune system, but not in the sense that they protect against the same ARVI, influenza or coronavirus infection. They can affect, for example, the activity of individual cells of innate immunity or both innate and acquired immunity , that is, several links of immunity at once. But these fluctuations in individual immunological parameters do not indicate the clinical effectiveness of such drugs, "the expert noted.

He emphasized that at this stage, the most effective way to prevent the disease of coronavirus infection is vaccination.
