Russia - Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat fined for air pollution

Russia (bbabo.net), - The court fined Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat LLC for 220 thousand rubles for violating the rules for the protection of atmospheric air.

Violations at the enterprise were revealed by Rosprirodnadzor after numerous complaints from residents about an unpleasant smell in the air. In agreement with the prosecutor's office, two Salavat enterprises were then checked - Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat and Promvodokanal LLC.

It should be noted that complaints about poor air quality have been received from residents of Sterlitamak and Salavat since the fall of 2020, in the winter of 2022 the number of complaints increased dramatically. In the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Belarus, the objects of oil refining, petrochemistry and thermal power engineering are called possible sources of emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air in these cities. These enterprises are included in the federal state register of objects of negative impact, and Rosprirodnadzor can organize an unscheduled on-site inspection, and control over the state of atmospheric air in a residential area is entrusted to Rospotrebnadzor.

According to Roman Bolotov, head of the department of the South Ural Interregional Rosprirodnadzor, during the audit, it was revealed that the enterprise emits pollutants in the absence of a permit and the absence of a conclusion from the Federal State Environmental Supervision Authority for the "Hydrogen Production Unit", "Northern Catalytic Cracking Commodity Raw Material Park ", "Catalytic Cracking Complex".

The company believes that the reason lies in the regime of adverse weather conditions, when calm weather sets in, the air temperature drops, and atmospheric pressure rises.

- It is during this period that the number of complaints from the population increases. However, Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat has measures that are applied during such a regime. We respond immediately. We reduce the load on the installations, additionally select atmospheric air analyzes, - said Deputy Director Igor Taratunin.
