Russia (bbabo.net) - A criminal case has been opened on the fact of poisoning four children aged 7-12 with chlorine vapor in Yakutsk, the press service of the republican department of the Investigative Committee reported. The incident occurred on February 23 in one of the saunas, where the family celebrated the birthday of one of the children.

According to the investigation, after being in the pool, one child felt unwell. Upon returning home, three more complained of coughing, tearfulness, nausea and abdominal pain. Doctors diagnosed all four with inhalation poisoning with chlorine vapors of moderate and mild severity. Two children are still in the hospital.

As a result of the audit, a criminal case was initiated for the provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers. The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to two years.

To determine the degree of chlorine concentration, Rospotrebnadzor specialists conducted studies of air and water samples. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
