Russian diplomat's car damaged in Ireland

Protesters near the Russian embassy in Ireland against the special operation in Donbass damaged the car of the Russian diplomat, but did not tear the coat of arms from the gates of the diplomatic mission, as previously reported, TASS writes.

“Third day in a row there are demonstrations. During yesterday's protest, demonstrators tore down the coat of arms and attacked the car of the Minister-Counsellor, despite the presence of the police," an embassy spokesman said.

The diplomat clarified that the previously provided information that the protesters tore off the coat of arms turned out to be incorrect. The coat of arms was in fact removed to prevent further acts of vandalism after it was splashed with paint on 22 February.

According to preliminary information, about 200 people attended the rally, mostly representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora. The diplomat said that the embassy employee was not injured, and the car suffered minor damage.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in the Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR. Ukraine severed diplomatic relations with Russia. The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
