Russian authorities are discussing raising the price bar to identify vehicles that are subject to the increased vehicle tax. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov spoke about the course of the discussions, writes TASS.

“Do you mean raising the starting bar? Yes, we are discussing, because we need justice to be there, ”the agency quotes the minister.

The level of 3 million rubles for the "luxury tax" was set in 2014. Seven years later, the cost of a new domestic car has more than doubled, and foreign cars assembled in Russia have risen 1.4 times, she wrote earlier (Rosstat data as of April 2021). Over the past five years, the number of positions of expensive cars in this register has almost doubled - from 708 to 1389.

According to the current legislation, owners of cars worth from 3 million to 5 million rubles are required to pay transport tax with a coefficient of 1.5. Owners of cars more expensive than 5 million rubles must pay double tax, more expensive than 10 million rubles - in triple.

Earlier it became known that 20 car brands at once changed the prices for cars in the first half of December.
