Russia introduced new rules of entry for foreigners

Foreign citizens who have arrived in Russia for more than 90 days will now have to be photographed and be fingerprinted within 90 days of entering the country. Labor migrants will need to do this within 30 days or upon receipt of documents for work. The corresponding changes in the legislation began to operate on December 29, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the document, the measure will affect foreigners who came to the Russian Federation for purposes not related to the implementation of labor activities.

At the same time, for foreigners who arrived in the country to work, fingerprinting and photographing are required within 30 days from the date of entry into the country, or when applying for a patent or when obtaining a work permit.

Foreigners arriving in Russia, in order to go through these two procedures, must personally apply to the territorial department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a subordinate enterprise or an authorized organization.

Also, foreigners and labor migrants who arrived in the country for more than 90 days were obliged to take tests for HIV, drugs and a number of infectious diseases.

"These foreign citizens present an identity document recognized by the Russian Federation in this capacity, as well as a certificate of the absence of a disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection), and other documents confirming the passage of the medical examination provided for in paragraph 18 of this article", - said in the document.

The document refers to foreigners who have arrived in the Russian Federation for a period of more than 90 days and do not plan to work in the state, as well as those who have arrived in the country to carry out labor activities.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev signed an order according to which labor migrants in the Russian Federation will be issued patents for work in the form of a card with a chip containing an electronic image of their face and fingerprints.
