“Bayern” can not agree with Lewandowski and increased interest in another striker

Bayern Munich are having difficulty negotiating a contract extension with striker Robert Lewandowski. The current agreement of the 33-year-old Pole expires in the summer of 2023, and the Munich authorities propose to re-sign it for a year, Eurosport reports, citing Sport Bild.

This is in line with the club's policy towards players over 30 years old: Bayern are trying to renew agreements with such players for only one year. In particular, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and striker Thomas Muller agreed to extend their contracts for one season. These players' agreements also expire in the summer of 2023.

However, Lewandowski wants the club to offer him a long-term contract. Pole believes that the management should take into account the achievements of the player. In addition, Robert does not want to go for a salary cut and intends to receive 24 million euros a year. According to Bayern, signing a long-term contract with such a high salary is an unreasonably high risk, given Lewandowski's age.

Against this background, “Bavaria” has increased interest in the forward of “Borussia” from Dortmund Erling Holand. The Munich club management has already contacted the Norwegian's agent Mino Raiola.

Also, Bayern understands that the signing of a new long-term contract with Lewandowski will be an insurmountable obstacle to the implementation of the deal on Holland. So far, the club is not conducting substantive negotiations with the Pole and his agent Pini Zahavi. The situation remains uncertain.

Holland himself hopes to pursue a career in Spain, where Real Madrid and Barcelona would like to get him.
