Spartak in the minority avoided defeat in the control match with Pyunik

Football players of Moscow "Spartak" tied with the Armenian "Pyunik" in the final control match at the training camp in Dubai, playing most of the time in the minority.

The meeting, held on Friday, February 11, ended with the score 1:1. The guests took the lead in the 66th minute, and the team captain Georgiy Jikia (84) saved the Red-Whites from defeat.

In the 35th minute, Spartak forward Quincy Promes was removed from the field for hitting an opponent in the face. After that, the representatives of the "red-whites" tried to negotiate with Pyunik to replace Promes, but the coaching staff of the Armenian club refused twice - after the removal and during the break.

“Despite the fact that there was no elbow strike from Promes, and we showed a repeat of this to the Pyunik coaches during the break, the Armenian side refused to play 11 on 11,” Dmitry Zelenov, head of the Spartak press service, commented on the situation to journalists.

The situation was also ironically played up on the Red-White's official Twitter account.

"Spartak" tied the fourth test match at the training camp in the UAE with two wins.

The Red-Whites will play their next training camp in Turkish Belek from February 15 to February 19, where they also have two more control matches against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (February 18) and Shakhtar Karaganda (February 19).

Spartak will officially resume the season on February 26 with a derby against CSKA in the 19th round of the Russian Championship.
