Tarasova called the doping test situation a difficult test for Valieva

Figure skater Kamila Valieva is able to cope with the difficulties that arose during the Olympics due to a doping test passed in December, in which traces of a banned substance were found. This was announced to RBC Sport by Tatyana Tarasova, Honored Coach of the USSR in figure skating.

“It is very hard when so much falls on such a little girl, but in this world the best always have a very hard time. Girl, hold on, it's always hard for the best. Camila is very young, but very strong, she will overcome everything, ”said Tarasova.

Zhukov said he hopes for the best in the investigation of the IOC and Valieva Olympics 2022. Trimetazidine was found in a doping test passed by Valieva on December 25 at the Russian Championship. This became known only in early February, during the Beijing Olympics. On February 8, RUSADA imposed a temporary suspension on the 15-year-old figure skater, but the next day, the RUSADA disciplinary committee overturned this decision, which allowed the season leader to continue performing at the Beijing Olympics.

Russian figure skaters, including Valieva, won the team tournament at the Olympics on February 7, but the award ceremony has not yet taken place.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Skating Union said they would appeal RUSADA's decision to allow Valieva to compete in the Olympics. The Russian Olympic Committee stated that since the sample was taken before the Games, the results of the athlete and the team tournament during the Olympic Games are not subject to automatic review.
