The Kremlin expressed hope that the Games-2022 will be the last without the flag of Russia

The Kremlin hopes that at the next Olympic Games, Russian athletes will be able to perform with the national flag and anthem, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS.

The next Games will be held in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024.

According to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), at the Beijing Olympics, Russian athletes perform as the team of the Russian Olympic Committee, and instead of the anthem at the award ceremonies, a fragment from the First Piano Concerto by Pyotr Tchaikovsky is used. These sanctions are valid until December 16, 2022.

“We hope that from the next Olympic cycle we will enter a normal, full-fledged, national participation regime,” Peskov said.

The IOC said that there is no data on the guilt of the ROC in the situation with the Valiyeva Olympics 2022 Earlier, the first head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), IOC member Richard Pound called on Russia to take a break and skip several Olympic Games in order to bring the doping situation under control.

Pound's announcement follows reports of a positive doping test by Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. Today, the athlete was admitted to the further participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing by the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
