Russian figure skaters take Olympic silver in ice dancing

Russians Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov won silver medals in ice dancing at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing (China).

According to the results of the free dance, they received 131.66 points. Thus, in total, Sinitsina and Katsalapov scored 220.51 points. The gold medals of the Beijing Olympics were taken by the French duo Gabriella Papadakis - Guillaume Sizeron. They received 136.15 points in the free dance and 226.98 in total, which is a world record. Bronze medals went to Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donoghue (130.89 free dance; 218.02 total) from the USA.

Another Russian couple, Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin, placed sixth with a total of 205.07 points. Diana Davis, daughter of coach Eteri Tutberidze, and Gleb Smolkin (179.82) finished 14th.

A pair of Sinitsina - Katsalapov have been performing together since 2014. During this time, they took the "silver" and "gold" of the world championships once, twice won the European Championships. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, they won the team competition as part of the Russian team.
