RUSADA stated that Valieva's sample was delivered to Stockholm on time

Russia (bbabo.net) - RUSADA released a statement saying that the World Anti-Doping Agency's laboratory in Stockholm received the sample of figure skater Kamila Valieva in sufficient time and was due to provide the results by the end of January. RUSADA noted that they strictly comply with the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Code and international standards, in particular the International Standard for Testing and Investigations and the International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information.

"Athlete's sample collected on December 25, 2021 arrived at the lab in sufficient time to complete the analysis within the standard time frame. After the international standard timeframe had passed, the lab informed the agency of delays in testing and reporting by the lab due to another wave of COVID -19, an increase in the incidence among laboratory personnel and quarantine rules. At the same time, in its messages, the laboratory indicated the deadlines for the availability of the results of the analysis, allowing you to receive information from the laboratory before the end of January 2022, that is, before the start of the Beijing Olympic Games. The laboratory informed that the analysis will be performed as a priority, however, an adverse analysis report was submitted on February 7, 2022.

RUSADA added that after receiving the conclusion from the laboratory, the results were processed, all necessary documents were prepared and interested parties were notified. As soon as possible, hearings were held by the independent disciplinary anti-doping committee on the issue of the provisional suspension of the athlete and all necessary hearings.

"Currently, RAA RUSADA continues processing the results and investigating the case, as a result of which an independent disciplinary body will evaluate all the circumstances related to a possible anti-doping rule violation," the report says.

On Monday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the decision of RUSAL to lift the temporary suspension from Kamila Valieva, who will be able to take part in the singles tournament.
