RUSADA responded to WADA's accusations due to a long check of Valieva's sample

The doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was delivered to the laboratory in Stockholm in sufficient time to complete the test. This is stated in a statement on the website of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).

“The athlete’s sample, collected on December 25, 2021, was delivered to the laboratory in time sufficient to complete the analysis within the standard time frame,” the statement said.

Valieva commented for the first time on the scandal over her Olympiad 2022 doping test RUSADA added that after the expiration of the deadlines stipulated by the international standard, the laboratory informed the agency about delays in testing and reporting by the laboratory due to another wave of COVID-19, an increase in the incidence among laboratory staff and quarantine regulations.

The laboratory indicated that the analyzes would be ready by the end of January, that is, before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing, RUSADA noted. “Also in January, the laboratory informed that the analysis would be performed as a priority, however, the conclusion about the adverse result of the analysis was presented on February 7, 2022 (when the skaters at the Olympics had already completed their performance in the team tournament. - RBC). Disclosure of other details regarding the procedure for analyzing the athlete’s sample is unacceptable and may lead to a violation of the interests of the parties, primarily the “protected person,” RUSADA added.

The point in Valieva's case has not been put. What is important to know about the decision of the CAS Olympics 2022 RUSADA also stated that they continue to process the results and investigate the Valieva case, as a result of which an independent disciplinary body will evaluate all the circumstances related to a possible anti-doping rule violation.

Earlier, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said that the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm did not know that the sample of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva needed to be tested before the start of the Beijing Olympics, because RUSADA did not mark the sample as a priority.

Valieva as part of the Russian team won the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics. But after the end of the competition, it became known that a banned substance was found in her doping test, taken back in December last year. Valieva had to seek admission to the personal tournament in Beijing through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). CAS made a decision only on the admission of the skater, the court did not consider the issue of medals. Further proceedings on the doping test will be handled by RUSADA.
