Kanat Islam wins WBO title fight

Details have appeared on the next fight of Kazakh middleweight boxer Kanat Islam (28-0, 22 KOs), bbabo.net reports.

Islam will return to the ring on February 25 as part of a boxing evening in Plant City (Florida, USA). The opponent will be the ex-champion for the world title in the light middleweight Jimmy Kelly (25-2, 10 KOs) from the UK.

The bout will take place over ten rounds and the WBO Global middleweight title will be at stake.

Their fight was originally scheduled to take place on January 21, but was rescheduled for February 25 due to coronavirus restrictions.

The last time Islam entered the ring was in February 2021 in Miami, when he defeated Ecuadorian Jason Minda (14-5-1, 8 KOs) by TKO in the seventh round. For the Kazakhstani, this was the first fight since 2019.
