Bolshunov and Terentiev, following the skiers, brought Russia bronze in the sprint

Russian skiers Alexander Bolshunov and Alexander Terentiev won bronze in the team sprint classic at the Beijing Olympics.

Norwegians Eric Valnes and Johannes Klebo won with a score of 19 minutes 22.99 seconds. The Russians gave them 4.29 seconds.

Finns Iivo Niskanen and Yoni Mäki came second (+2.46).

Russian skiers won bronze in the team sprint at the 2022 Olympics Klebo earlier in Beijing won the personal sprint, just a 25-year-old Norwegian became a five-time Olympic champion.

At the last Olympics in 2018, Bolshunov and Denis Spitsov won silver in the team sprint, losing to Klebo and Martin Sundby.

Earlier, Russians Natalya Nepryaeva and Yulia Stupak became third in the team sprint.

At the Beijing Games, Terentiev won bronze in the individual sprint, Bolshunov won gold in the relay and skiathlon, and silver in the 15 km race from a separate start.

The Russian team has four gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals in Beijing, the Russians are in ninth place in the medal standings. Norway is in the lead (13-7-8), followed by Germany (10-6-4) and the USA (8-7-4).

In terms of the total number of medals (23), the Russians are second only to Norway (28).
