Guberniev described Valieva's mood for the upcoming performance

Figure skater Kamila Valieva, during her free program at the February 17 Olympics, will not think about the postponed awarding of medals, she will focus on how to win gold. This was announced to RBC Sports commentator and showman Dmitry Guberniev.

“Valiyeva will not think about the postponed awarding during the rental. In her case, thinking about the postponed award before the free program is, approximately, like before the last frontier, conditional [Eduard] Latypov, [Ulyana] Nigmatullina or [Svetlana] Mironova (biathletes. - RBC) think about what kind of award they will have after that frontier. It may not exist at all. She [Valiyeva] needs to do her job, she can do it well and take the gold,” Guberniev said.

“Everyone was crying together with Valieva.” As the performance of the figure skaters of the 2022 Olympics was assessed, Valieva at the 2022 Olympics won gold as part of the Russian team in the team tournament, and also performs in individual competitions, where she leads after the short program held on Tuesday, February 15.

Earlier it was reported that the IOC decided to postpone the awards ceremony in the team tournament due to the desire to give medals to the "correct" skaters. For the same reason, the awards ceremony in single skating will not be held if Valieva takes the prize.

After the completion of the competition in the team figure skating tournament at the Olympics, it became known that a banned substance, trimetazidine, was found in Valieva’s doping test, taken back in December last year (used to treat cardiac problems, but has been banned from athletes since 2015).

Valieva had to seek admission to the personal tournament in Beijing through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) filed appeals against the figure skater's admission to the Games, but the CAS exit panel took the side of RUSADA and allowed Valieva to compete in the individual tournament.

Biathletes Karim Khalili, Alexander Loginov, Maxim Tsvetkov and Eduard Latypov took bronze in the men's relay. Before the last shooting, the Russians were leading the race, but Latypov earned two penalty loops, because of which the Russian team was bypassed by the national teams of Norway and France.
