Gold with an Olympic record, or how a Kazakh woman fought for a medal at the 2022 Games

Kazakh speed skater Nadezhda Morozova was close to the top 10 at the 2022 Olympics in the 1,000m, only slightly behind her competitor from Japan, bbabo.net reports.

The 23-year-old athlete ran in the first half of the competition program and completed the distance with the third time (1:15.69).

Another participant from Kazakhstan, 30-year-old Ekaterina Aidova, performed in the second group of athletes. Her result is 1:16.70.

Kazakhstan was deprived of medal chances by “partner” Aidova in the session. The tournament with the Olympic record was won by Miho Takagi from Japan (1:13.19), and the top three winners included Jutta Leerdam from the Netherlands (1:13.83) and American Brittany Bowe (1:14.61).

Morozova took the final 11th place, losing hundredths of a second to Japanese Nao Kodaira (1:15.65). Aidova took 19th place.

Let's add that earlier the applicants for medals in the men's tournament were determined, and today, February 17, the Olympic champion among figure skaters in the individual tournament will be revealed.
