Children's dog sled race Dyulin started in Kamchatka

Russia (bbabo.net), - Competitions for young mushers have begun in the Kamchatka Territory. Almost 50 children in three age categories take part in the "Dyulin" competitions, as well as the championship of the Far Eastern Federal District in the snow disciplines of sledding.

According to the government of the region, today 19 participants of the oldest age category (15-17 years old) run 5.2 kilometers, 12 athletes aged 12-14 cover a distance of 3.2 kilometers, and the youngest guys - 2.8 kilometers. Among the athletes are mushers from different regions of Kamchatka, as well as from the Khabarovsk and Primorsky territories.

Competitions are held at the Lesnaya ski base in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

- The "Dyulin" race is unique not only for Kamchatka, but also for the whole of Russia, since children outside the region have few opportunities to try themselves in sledding. We have a lot of such young athletes, children go to championships, win prizes, gain experience, - said the judge of the Kamchatka Sledding Sports Center Yana Chikina.

These competitions are part of the large winter festival "Beringia", traditionally held in Kamchatka. The Beringia race, prologue and technical start will take place on March 6-7 in the village of Esso, Bystrinsky district. They will meet the mushers at the finish line in Ossor, Karaginsky district, presumably on March 28 - April 1.
