Boxer with a broken jaw knocked out the champion and regained the title

British boxer Josh Warrington (31-1-1, 8 KOs) regained his IBF featherweight title by defeating Spaniard Kiko Martinez (43-11-3, 30 KOs) ahead of schedule, bbabo.net reports.

The revenge took place in Leeds (England). Martinez, who made his first title defense, was knocked down in the first round. After that, Warrington seized the initiative.

The denouement came in the seventh round when the challenger shocked the champion again, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight.

However, the victory went to Warrington at a high price. The Briton received a broken jaw, but this did not stop him from delaying his opponent.

Recall that Warrington abandoned the IBF belt at the beginning of last year, and the vacant title went first to his former rival Kid Galahad, and then 36-year-old Martinez knocked out Galahad and became the IBF champion.
