FIFA has named a shortlist of three contenders for the best footballer of 2021. It is posted on the organization's Twitter. It includes Argentine striker Paris Saint-Germain Lionel Messi, Polish striker Bavaria Robert Lewandowski and Egyptian striker Mohammed Salah of Liverpool.
Lewandowski received this FIFA prize last year.
Messi won his seventh Ballon d'Or of his career on 29 November, beating Lewandowski and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. This award is presented to the best football player of the year by France Football magazine.
