Okko will shoot the first international project with Bekmambetov

The Okko online cinema will shoot the first international project together with Timur Bekmambetov, the streaming press service reports.

A film in the Japanese horror genre (j-horror) under the working title "The Drowned Man" (Bloat) is being shot by the Bazelevs studio by Timur Bekmambetov, the French film company Pulsar Content and the Japanese production company Flag Co., Ltd.

The main roles in the project will be played by the star of the series "Gotham" Ben McKenzie and Bojana Novakovic ("Tonya vs. Everyone", "Birds of Prey: The Amazing Story of Harley Quinn", "Westworld"). In the story, the youngest son of a military officer (Mackenzie) and his wife (Novakovic) almost drowns in a lake on vacation in Japan. After that, strange things begin to happen to him.

The Drowned Man will be filmed in a screen-life format - the action will unfold on the screens of devices used by the main characters.

The film was directed and written by Tokyo horror director Pablo Absento.

Filming has already begun in Japan.

Earlier it was reported that Bekmambetov will shoot horror films based on Stan Lee comics.
