Russia (bbabo.net), - For 55 years, People's Artist of Belarus Olga Klebanovich has been faithful to one stage - the stage of the National Academic Drama Theater named after M. Gorky. And she is still in demand in films and on television. Last year, Olga Klebanovich tried herself as a director: she staged The Brothers Karamazov on the stage of her native theater. Another premiere is on the way. And again according to Russian classics.
Olga Mikhailovna, "The Brothers Karamazov" is already three months old. And every time - a full hall of grateful spectators. Are you satisfied with the performance yourself?
Olga Klebanovich: I was really looking forward to the premiere. But I was overtaken by the coronavirus, I had to spend ten days in the hospital. Do you know what struck me at the first shows? Complete silence in the hall. The audience sat spellbound, listening attentively to this great text. Therefore, even if something did not work out for me, Fedor Mikhailovich saved everything with his amazing literature. In general, I am satisfied with my first directing experience, even in terms of interaction with colleagues. Their attention and trust are worth a lot. They really try to live this story, to completely immerse themselves in the depths of Dostoevsky's literature.
Before coming to the performance, should the audience read the novel?
Olga Klebanovich: I think it's worth reading, even if the person isn't going to the theatre. For me, for example, holding a volume of Dostoevsky in my hands is already a pleasure. Of course, it is simply impossible to fit the whole novel into a two-hour performance. But Sergei Mikhailovich (Kovalchik, artistic director of the production. - Ed.) and I did not have such a goal. We have made "The Brothers Karamazov" very intense: just have time to follow the events!
After Dostoevsky, I heard you have Turgenev in your plans?
Olga Klebanovich: Yes, on the first of March, if everything goes according to plan, I will start "A Month in the Village". We did not accidentally "went" to the classics. Prior to this, for several years the theater was fond of the light genre, making performances to please the audience. It was a difficult time: repairs, coronavirus... And now, in my opinion, there is a need to bathe in classics. Moreover, next season the theater will be 90 years old.
And you also have a beautiful anniversary in September - 55 years of service in the theater.
Olga Klebanovich: Really? I didn't even think about it, to be honest. Some colleagues sometimes complain: "How quickly life flew by, there was not enough time to realize anything ..." I can't say that. I have a very rich, I would even say, full-blooded life. Firstly, I was lucky: I chose a profession that I can handle. I will even say a little impudently: I am in my place, and this pleases me. Each season is filled with great wonderful roles, the recognition of the audience, the love of colleagues. Secondly, despite the workload in the theater, I managed to give birth to two wonderful children, I was married to an absolutely wonderful person ... Where could it be better? It remains only to thank the Lord for such a wonderful track. And also, if everything goes well, in the summer I will take an acting course at the Academy of Arts. The theater needs talented youth.
But you yourself became famous before even starting to play in the theater - you just appeared on the cover of Ogonyok, a magazine with a multi-million circulation.
Olga Klebanovich: I was in my second year at the Theater and Art Institute when a photographer from Moscow arrived in Minsk. I was looking for a student who would personify Belarus. And I have two braids and a round face... So my photo appeared on the cover. What happened next, you have no idea! They wrote from the army, from prisons, they brought letters in bags. Mom once asked: "Are you going to read all this?" To which I replied: "Of course I will! You need to respect people."
How did your future husband, famous actor Alexander Denisov?
Olga Klebanovich: Once director Valery Pozdnyakov, to whom Sasha Denisov came to Minsk, called me and said: "Olga, go meet your future husband." And I jokingly said to him: "Yes? Well, then he needs to take a turn." However, after the rehearsal, Alexander was already waiting for me: "Maybe you can show me the city?" That's how it all started. And it went on for six years. Because the meaning of life for me was to learn a profession.
Now, as a director, I passed The Brothers Karamazov, then there will be Turgenev's A Month in the Country
But Alexander eventually got his way?
Olga Klebanovich: He took a different path: he started visiting my mother. Either they boiled dumplings together, then they fried potatoes ... And my mother completely swam, hid love letters from other fans from me ... Somehow I open the door, and Gena Ovsyannikov are standing on the threshold (). Gena says: "Hello, I'm a matchmaker. You have goods, we have a merchant."
Two famous actors in one family. How did you share the responsibilities?Olga Klebanovich: If I have a performance, Sasha and mother with children. If Sasha is shooting and he flies somewhere, then I remain in the service of our family idyll. And even after filming in the "State Border", when there was increased attention to him, this did not affect the family in any way.
Let's return to the theatre. You have four performances in your current repertoire. Is it a lot or a little?
Olga Klebanovich: Now, when everyone is sick, I go on stage even more often than necessary. I mainly play lyrical and comedic roles, although I had enough tragic ones in my time: for example, in "The Sign of Trouble" by Vasil Bykov, in the play "Return to Khatyn" by Ales Adamovich. In the meantime, I just take a break from such roles. Now, as a director, she passed The Brothers Karamazov, then there will be Turgenev's A Month in the Country. Then, perhaps, some big role will appear, so that I, so to speak, rise from the ashes.
In the movies, I know you're missing this season...
Olga Klebanovich: Yes, take care as best I can. I'm already on stage without a mask. Therefore, I say “no” to all proposals for filming. I am content with little, I have no desire to earn all the money in the world. There are actors who can't stop, they need more. I am not one of them. I have enough work in the theater. There is also enough demand in the cinema. Often they are called for the main roles, and in episodes, and for the leading roles - mothers, grandmothers of the protagonist. I was lucky to work with all the talented Soviet and later Russian directors. She starred in two films with Valery Todorovsky. In "Thaw" there was a supporting role, in "Lover" an episode. Todorovsky is a wonderful, talented person, this has long been known to everyone.
February 25 is your birthday - "two sevens", as you say. Beautiful date.
Olga Klebanovich: Very. I am not ashamed of my age and do not hide it. I treat every year of my life with respect. Two sevens is good, but two nines would be even better.
