Khusnullin said he was not ready for state regulation of prices for building materials

The Russian government is not going to introduce state regulation of prices for building materials now. Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin told the Russia 24 TV channel about this.

“This approach violates market principles. But we will deal with individual factors that affect the rise in prices,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

According to him, the rise in prices for building materials leads to overpayments on projects of the state order outside the plan. The authorities will also deal with these cases and, if necessary, involve law enforcement agencies.

He added that the state should intervene only in cases where price increases are due to the use of local monopolies.

According to Rosstat, for 2021, building materials in Russia have risen in price by almost a quarter (+ 23.2%)

On Feb. 10, businesses warned of rising prices for finishing building materials and wood-based panels in 2021 to 10% in 2022. The reason for the rise in prices is the increase from 5% to almost 20% of the import duty on a component for the production of finishing building materials - melamine.

The increase in duty occurred after a complaint from the Russian company Nevinnomyssky Azot about dumping by Chinese suppliers.
