At the end of 2021, the Russians were given a record ₽150 billion in microloans

In the fourth quarter of 2021, microfinance organizations (MFIs) issued a record volume of loans to Russians in the last two years in the amount of 150.9 billion rubles. RBC writes about this, referring to the statistics of the MiR organization.

In annual terms, the number of loans received by citizens in the fourth quarter of last year increased by 117.9%. Also, the volume of loans increased by 85.1%, which can be considered the maximum since 2019.

Experts agreed that Russians began to take more loans from MFIs due to the fact that incomes do not keep pace with inflation, and loans help maintain their usual standard of living. Also, MFIs themselves spent a lot of money on advertising and promotion last year, which also attracted new clients.

In addition, the tightening of microloan regulation by the Bank of Russia has led MFOs to act proactively. So, many organizations are now trying in every possible way to increase their customer base in order to work with them in the future, as with repeat ones.

On February 13, it was reported that in 2021, Russians began to resort to payday loans and targeted loans for goods more often.
