Russia - FAS: Another 17 retailers in six regions will limit the margin on products

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia held another round of negotiations with large regional and local retail chains, as a result of which 17 more retailers from six regions agreed to limit the maximum retail margins for certain categories of products from the basic consumer basket. Earlier, 11 retail chains from seven regions took a similar step.

According to the press service of the FAS, this time we are talking about networks in the Volgograd, Yaroslavl, Oryol and Lipetsk regions, Kabardino-Balkaria and Adygea. "The service believes that the voluntary restriction of markups on food products from the list of socially important products, while ensuring the availability of these products on the shelves, will slow down the rise in prices and at the same time avoid a shortage of foodstuffs most in demand by consumers," the message says. - The FAS Russia recalls that At the moment, the prices of essential foodstuffs are not regulated by the state."

The readiness of regional retailers to voluntarily limit the margin on products became known on February 7. Retail chains themselves determine the list of goods with a limited markup, methods of informing consumers about this, as well as the period of validity of such a restriction, while they are obliged to ensure the availability of goods on the shelves if restrictive markups are imposed on them.
