The US intelligence community claims that the cause of the "Havana syndrome" in American diplomats could be an external influence in the form of pulses of electromagnetic energy or ultrasound. This is reported in a declassified expert material, which is published on the website of the Director of National Intelligence of the United States.

“The signs and symptoms of anomalous health incidents among diplomats are genuine and compelling... The set of signs cannot simply be explained by existing environmental factors or medical conditions, they can be associated with external influences on people,” the experts said.

Pulses of electromagnetic energy, especially in the radio frequency range, as well as ultrasound, but only at short distances, plausibly explain the main characteristics of the phenomenon, in contrast to ionizing radiation, chemical and biological agents, infrasound or audible sound, experts say.

Earlier, United States President Joe Biden chose an interagency coordinator for the investigation of the "Havana syndrome" among American diplomats.
