Russia - NATO fighters escorted the Tu-142 of the Russian Aerospace Forces during exercises in the Atlantic

Russia (bbabo.net), - Russian anti-submarine aircraft were taken on escort by Norwegian Air Force and RAF fighters in the North-East Atlantic during the exercise. According to the press service of the Northern Fleet, the flight was carried out in accordance with the combat training plan. They noted that two Tu-142 anti-submarine aircraft of the naval aviation of the Northern Fleet flew to the North-East Atlantic to conduct exercises to search for and detect submarines.

The planes took off from the Kipelovo airfield near Vologda and headed for the Barents Sea. Then the pilots flew over the Norwegian Sea and entered the mission area. During the flight over the Barents Sea, the Tu-142 was accompanied by a pair of MiG-31 interceptor fighters.

In the designated area, the planes searched for submarines of a mock enemy. In addition, training was conducted on flights over unorientated terrain and piloting in the absence of ground-based radio navigation aids. Also, issues of interaction with detachments of the Russian Navy ships located in the North-East Atlantic were worked out.

At different stages of the flight, Tu-142 aircraft were accompanied by fighters from the Norwegian Air Force and the British Air Force.
