Fighters from Norway and Great Britain escorted Russian Tu-142s during their flight during exercises in the North-East Atlantic. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Northern Fleet.
“In accordance with the combat training plan, two Tu-142 anti-submarine aircraft of the naval aviation of the Northern Fleet successfully completed a flight to a given area of the North-East Atlantic to participate in an exercise to search and detect submarines,” the press service explained.
Earlier it was reported that the UK intercepted and escorted four Russian bombers approaching its borders.
The last time the UK Air Force flew fighter jets to intercept Russian warplanes was on 7 August 2021. Then the Typhoons of rapid reaction detected two Russian Tu-142 "Bear-F" maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine defense aircraft over the North Sea. The British Air Force described the aircraft of this model as created in the "Cold War era".
